JUMP! Doing Things Scared
JUMP! Doing Things Scared
Next week, I’m jumping out of a plane. Yes—strapped to another human and free-falling through the sky. Am I scared? Absolutely. Am I doing it anyway? Without question.
Here’s why: fear shrinks us if we let it, but action expands us. I have been scared a lot, especially in those early years after losing my stepson, husband and business. I shrunk myself. Stopped jumping in. I was so damn scared!!
But you only get one life. One juicy, wild, delicious life and I am going to live it.
My late friend Nathan Ricks used to say, “Massive action cures all fears.” Those words ring in my ears as I prepare for this big leap.
You don’t need to go skydiving to face fear. Sometimes, the scariest leap is much smaller: booking a consult with me. 😅
Facing Fear in Everyday Life
I know some of you have thought about reaching out—whether for group coaching, private coaching, or a nutrition assessment—but stopped short because it feels intimidating. Maybe you’ve wondered:
What if I’m not ready?
What if it’s too much?
What if I fail?
Here’s what I want you to know: I am so happy to talk with you. I want our conversation to feel safe, supportive, and encouraging. Just as skydiving requires trust in the person strapped to you, coaching requires trust in me. And I take that trust seriously.
Overcoming fear and taking action is not just brave—it’s healthy. It’s growth. It’s freedom. Sometimes the first step is simply saying yes to yourself. Go ahead! JUMP!
A Simple Swiss Chard Recipe to Try
Speaking of taking stress out of life, let’s talk food. Right now, Swiss chard is exploding in gardens everywhere. I discovered the most delicious, easy way to use it. This Mediterranean-inspired recipe is nutrient-dense, satisfying, and fast enough for a busy weeknight. Serve warm.
Sautéed Swiss Chard with Sausage & Cannellini Beans
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium onion, diced
Pinch of hot pepper flakes
4 hot Italian sausages
Stems and greens from 1 bunch of Swiss chard, sliced into 1-inch pieces
1 can cannellini beans, drained
1 cup chicken stock or broth
Juice of 1 fresh lemon
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a pan. Add garlic, onion, and hot pepper flakes.
Add sausage slices and cook through. Stir in the Swiss chard stems.
When stems are semi-soft, add beans, lemon juice and broth. Simmer briefly.
Add the Swiss chard leaves last, letting them wilt into the mixture.
Serve warm.

Living Boldly in Every Area of Life
While we’re on the subject of fearless women, I have to mention Jen Govier, founder of HUX performance underwear for women. I heard her speak at the canfitpro Global Conference recently where she shared her story and the creation of her brand—zero camel toe, charcoal-based, moisture-wicking underwear designed for women who move.

Her boldness and innovation left the room buzzing. We connected afterward and bonded over her mission to help women live big lives with comfort and confidence.

Take the Leap
Whether it’s skydiving, starting a new way of eating, or booking a call with me, the principle is the same: do the thing scared. On the other side of fear is freedom, health, and the life you want.
It’s time to JUMP. Talk to you soon, xo Tosca
