No Results? Your Body Already Told You Why
Look! The body doesn’t lie. Ever.
It is the living, breathing reflection of every story, choice, meal, and decision you’ve ever made. Your body is the mirror of it all.
Thought leader Dr. Gregg Braden reminds us that while your thoughts set intention, it’s your feelings and emotions that draw your desires to you. Yes—even if those desires mean mountains of potato chips.
If you’re not seeing results—in weight loss, performance, or overall health—pause before judging the process. Judgement comes fast when you’ve banked on a plan promising results.
I worked with a client today, someone whom I’ve coached before. Life got in the way for a year and now she is back. She revealed, in our conversation, that she blamed me for not achieving the results she was hoping for the first time around. Instead she got heavier. And angrier. Today she came clean, saying she knew all along her lack of results, was on her. That she played the victim because she wasn’t ready. She knows Eating Clean works. Now we have a commitment.
When you’re ready to judge, first ask yourself the harder questions: Did you truly commit to your goal? Did you state it clearly?
Was it only a vague wish—“I just want to lose weight”—or a powerful declaration: “I will lose 20 pounds by December 25th of this year”?
Motivational expert Zig Ziglar said, “A goal properly set is halfway reached.” A clear, concise goal with well-defined parameters brings you halfway there. It clears away the distractions, sharpening your focus, or as Dr. Benjamin Hardy would say, “A clear goal raises your floor.” He means, having a sharply focused goal outlines exactly what you want to accomplish.
The other 50%? Honouring the commitment you made to yourself. If you didn’t honour your commitment, ask: what did I honour instead? What story am I loyal to that’s preventing me from achieving my desired outcome?
Being in integrity with your goal—and yourself—is everything. It’s the difference between hitting the snooze button at the crack of stupid early and getting up to move your body. It’s what drives you to come home after a long day and still prepare a clean meal, no matter how tired you are.
In my work with clients, this is often where the gap lies. They have the goal—but when effort feels like “too much,” they default to the very habits that took them out of alignment in the first place.
I use a tool with my clients to help them reconnect to their power. It’s not about judgement—answering these questions reveals where obstacles may exist.
The Identity Gap
Ask yourself:
Who were you when you felt unstoppable?
What did that version of you believe about herself?
What habits and thoughts did you maintain that you may have drifted from?
When did you start playing small, and what were you protecting yourself from?
If you stripped away self-doubt, who would you choose to be today?
Answer these with powerful I AM statements, for example:
I am a woman who follows through.
I am worthy of success and peace.
I am consistent even when motivation dips.
I am not my feelings—I am my choices.
Your identity—who you are being—drives your behavior. Your behavior shapes your results. If you want different results, you must first remember who you are.
Breaking through sticking points becomes easier when you reconnect to the identity you choose to be. Review your I AM statements daily—they become the filter for your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and ultimately, your decisions.
